The college I went to now costs $78,000/yr.
Just checked, for 2020-2021:
13 professors of Theatre
13 professors of Sociology
5 professors of Art History
5 professors of French Studies
3 professors of Biblical Languages
...
2 professors of Computer Science

On a related note, I suspect that some less complex disciplines are undergoing Dellanna’s complexity disease. (Less relevant fields have to artificially increase complexity to catch up in “signaling sophistication” with complex & relevant degrees such as CS or medicine.)

Cool concept. Physics envy but for the liberal arts instead of economics. “A mark fo a charlatan is unnecessary complexity”
