Wal-Mart produced ~$15B in cash flow in 2019. They also lost ~$5B to theft/shrinkage. If eliminated, cash flow would increase by >30% or the equivalent of an incremental ~$100B in sales.

Easiest way may be “no cash” allowed coupled with scanning anything that goes out the door charging it to card on file for customer who walked out with it. See AmazonGo.

Too many customers are non-banked would be my guess. But good enough reason to provide them financial services as well.

Now there’s an idea. Kinda like opening health clinics and charging $30/physical, no insurance required. Most people have no idea how deep the talent/bench is at WMT. Many friends of mine have worked (and do work) at WMT Labs in the Valley which is huge in addition to AR.
