Conglomerates fell out of fashion, but with everywhere internet's increased capacity for communication and monitoring, shouldn't they be coming back?

Management time/attention/core competency is still a constraint.
But are compensated for by distribution, scale, and the ability to lobby/maintain strong gov't relationships (Indian conglomerates an example of the latter)
