A friend of mine, who is from Russia, is telling me that large numbers of Russians are going back to Russia, because of the general climate in the USA. "My parents say USA betrayed them, when they came here 25 years ago it was a different country and different set of values"

Regardless, I find this situation pretty sad for the US (and for the lower-case us).
Chinese go back to China as well. The economic opportunity greater back home for many.
I expect this trend to continue for China and stop for Russia. Putin can give free houses to a thousand people to spite the US but not sure how far can he take this. And the Russian economy is NOT like the Chinese.
I don't know enough about Russia to have an opinion. I do know that they, unlike everywhere but China and the US, at least have their own tech ecosystem. They have some demographic issues, but with good policies I could see them rising again.
