If the expensive, coastal cities don't want new development and places like Texas do, then the only viable solution for affordable housing is to move the jobs from the former to the latter.

That may be your experience, and clearly it’s what you want it to be. That’s a shame though, as it couldn’t be farther from the truth for most of Texas. Diverse thoughts/cultures/beliefs generally tend to get along together better here than just about anywhere.
