Does that China stat apply to Hong Kong and Taiwan? Chiang Mai had an army of Chinese tourists. I could easily tell who was from hk versus mainland, they behaved so differently.

In my experience, definitely. We even see higher rates of counterfeiting in Chinese diaspora in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and.... In the United States!
