For the record: I think college is poorly implemented and needs to be worked on. But it’s the best we have.

Economics might have taken itself a lot more seriously over time. My dad's professor joked back in the '60s, "The nice thing about teaching econ is that every year I get to use the same test. I only have to change the correct answer."

It seems to vary a lot by econ department and changes over time. My high school friend that went to Caltech and *really* believed it until he saw my results. Meanwhile my dad went to Caltech back in the '60s and thinks it's complete BS, which is interesting.
