The events of the past few months have been filtered through an extremely partisan lens. Neither side is perfect, but one side has clearly had far worse predictions (i.e. has been less aligned with objective reality).

Not sure what you’re saying exactly but as I see it both sides have been abysmal. Liberals thought it was a racist hoax, until they changed their minds, only to change their minds again when BLM came around. Meanwhile conservatives think the coronavirus is a liberal hoax.

I agree both sides have been abysmal, but the magnitude of the errors is clearly leaning one way. I haven't seen any minimizing/downplaying of the virus among the liberals I follow. If anything, they've said/worried the protests will accelerate spread.

Many liberals do have a terrible double standard for how to treat the anti-lockdown protests versus the BLM protests.

Re: magnitude yes and no. Trump has done a terrible job but, federalism is the American way. Cuomo has great press conferences and says all the right things now, but he basically killed 100,000 people. Deblasio is and has always been an idiot. Southern governors also stupid.

All in all, I’m a big fan of the precautionary principle so I like China’s strategy but it may backfire. If no vax or treatment, USA herd immunity is the strategy.

Political orientation is one of the best predictors of how people are reacting to coronavirus. Not saying it's the only one. Idiots and hacks on both sides, but something about the right caused them to dismiss coronavirus as a hoax early on.

I think I’m probably on the right, so I’m an exception I guess. If I had to guess, it’s just two things: 1) it happened in blue states. New Yorkers wouldn’t believe it if they didn’t all know someone who died 2) conservatives don’t like to be told by govt wha to do.

After this bad boy rips through Arizona, they’re not gonna think it’s a hoax.
