My team is thinking about mandating vacation (not sure what we’d actually require). Our best engineers haven’t taken any time off all year. It seems weird to force it, but a three day weekend can really be refreshing. Taking care of yourself also makes you more productive.

Disagree, more relevant because of this. No one wants to take time off because they can’t go anywhere, but these are super stressful times. People need an opportunity to recharge even if it doesn’t include the beach.

I haven’t taken a vacation in 10 years and play with a lot of chips on the table and with some sharks. Gotta say, the idea that people need to recharge from a job is hard for me to relate to. I like weekends but go nuts on them. Always have to be doing something.
