Just found out that the founders of Meituan and ByteDance are both from Longyang, Fujian. There’s a stereotype in China that Fujianese people are really good at business — is there a comparable geographical generalization around entrepreneurship here in the US?
Inarguable, imo. There are hubs for certain types of innovation i.e. silicon valley for tech, detroit for cars, nyc for fashion and finance, and los angeles for film. But there's nothing like "yeah, people born in Wyoming know business well" - its all ethnic based.

Yeah also Silicon Valley is kind of premised on people moving there who are attracted to entrepreneurship, as opposed to people from there being more entrepreneurial, although maybe that is empirically also more the case. Like Stanford is still very much a California heavy school
