I think you misunderstood what I was asking. I don't deny self-censorship exists. I was questioning your assertion that people will be surprised Trump will win in 2020 because there are so many people who don't say anything. I was asking from where you were getting the data.

I understand that with cancel culture and social media, people are constantly sharing and looking to fight for their cause in short form (280 characters). It's not a great format to explain ideas, so people jump on each other and threaten, belittle, attack, dox, etc.

Because of this environment, if you have a nonconsensual opinion, you don't put it out there on social media as often or at all. But the fact that people censor themselves does not mean that Trump will win in 2020. That's why I was asking about what data you had to store that.

I didn’t say that trump would win. I just said that the difference between his poll numbers and vote numbers would be greater in 2020 than in 2016 because of increased self censhorship

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. I am not sure how those polls are done. I never trust those numbers because I don't know what are the demographics of the participants and how large the sample size is. The headlines following those poll numbers are not accurate.

But if the polls are anonymous, how is self censorship relevant?
