Many docs are set up to be ineffective — I often see them being rushed without slowing down to really get all the facts. For that reason, I’m of a mindset to be a very involved patient who insists on understanding the diagnoses and recommendations. TLDR: I ask a ton of q’s!

Right. Sometimes this is frowned upon. You can see some docs bristle. One must do it regardless.

I've often found that careful googling and interpretation gives me more understanding than my doctors. But they are only from the Mayo Clinic. Maybe there are better.

I've found this too, but a doctor, even a mediocre one has a sense of practicality from their sample size of patients that's hard to get from reading google scholar.
