      The title of the decree says it regulates “soccer and basketball”. My guess is that they regulated soccer, and then “let’s apply it to basketball too”.

      It is! My hometown has more public basketball courts than public and private soccer fields (which was unimaginable 20 years ago).

      I don’t know enough about the small field version of soccer played in Brazil but b-ball has a real chance of displacing football as #1 sport globally
