What are we eating now that we weren't eating 50 years ago? I saw a study showing that cheese (which has gone way up) lowers sperm counts.

Various causes but my suspicion is that living life without privation and with little physical status competition may be an underrated factor

Privation wasn't really the situation in 1973 though. I think a lot of these studies control for exercise? I think?
