When you decide not to write something controversial on Twitter, what is your reason?

asymmetric risk reward. The reward (educating others) is virtually non-existent due to echo chamber effects and if you do actually change someone's mind, you often don't find out. The risk (others misunderstanding/misinterpreting/negatively labeled) is through the roof.
What's the downside to being misunderstood/misinterpreted/negatively labeled? It's just unpleasant or there are actual real economic downsides? What comes to mind first.

annoying "AF" as the kids say. in short -- "why bother" ? BTW, i'm glad you bother, because I enjoy your tweets, but for the most part, people only have a small amount of interesting things to say and most on twitter are far beyond their threshold. low signal:noise ratio
