There is an interesting argument to be made that flying is *too* safe today. Adding “9’s” in reliability/safety gets exponentially more expensive in some problem areas. We could be spending hundreds of billions to add that extra couple of nines in air safety, for example.
Good point. I don't know enough about what's been done to make flying so safe to have an opinion.
