Not as simple as that. Americans are used to championing their exceptionalism. "No foreign power should interfere in the Americas"... While America does it in every continent. War on "terror" kills more Iraqis than Saddam did, in half the time. NYT doesn't print their names.
Every country is exceptional. Afaict America is actually the least destructive hegemonic power ever.

Least destructive? America ruined neighbouring Cuba for the crime of not allowing it's companies monopoly. For "daring" to host missiles so close to American Border. Even as America did the same on *every* other country's border. This is typical BS that Americans offer.

And as the only country that dropped atomic bombs. Not once but twice on Civilian populations. America is the very epitomy of the worst in Capitalist, Colonial excesses.
