"Tribalism" is frowned upon, but we'd be better off thinking of our union as an agreement among many tribes than trying to force it into being a homogenous soup
I disagree. There are examples of diverse groups of people successfully becoming homogenous soups. White European immigrants in the early 1900s, Hindus in India, Han in China. Why can’t we just be a big homogenous soup called America?

Hindus are not a homogenous group Uncle .They are divided into various castes and sub castes which completely differ in dietary habits etc etc

I see extremely strong nationalism amongst Hindus though. I know about castes.
