When Deng Xiaoping first mobilized against the protesters, the army division around Beijing refused to comply. It was only after bringing in battalions from faraway provinces, soldiers without sympathy and much info, that they ended the protests.pic.twitter.com/IZq50H2EKw

In fact, many soldiers were killed brutally by the rioters. They’re just poor kids, even not knowing what they are dying for. That’s the reason why most Chinese do not approve the Tiananmen protest.

The loss of life, whatever it was, was regrettable, but I agree with most Chinese. The American deification of the tiananmen protestors is silly.
