The “intermediate” one is perhaps the most shaky for me. Dunning-Kruger and all that — but I don’t see intermediates always overstating their ability. Many are very aware of their strengths and weaknesses at that stage.
If analogize this to chess, here is what I would say: 1. beginners are learning the rules 2. intermediates are learning the principles 3. experts know the principles 4. masters know when the principles are wrong Doesn't sound as nice as they way you wrote it.
I got in a lot of trouble reading master books in chess when I needed to be reading expert books. Similarly in business I read a lot of master and expert books when I should've been reading intermediate or beginner books. Experience and hard lessons did the trick though.
