They have the platform for the world's most influential people to interact and post ideas. They want to turn that into a partisan political website. One of the dumbest things I've seen a company do.

What they're doing is not only terrible for the economics and the quality of the product, but it violates in spirit, if not explicitly, the first amendment of our nation's storied constitution.

I learned when I ran a company on top of the Twitter API that Twitter does not behave at all like a normal business. Public opinion and political influence seem to be more of an internal driver than revenue.
