Doja Cat, the half-black singer with the hit song "Say So", is being cancelled for alleged racism against black people. See: #dojacatisoverparty
Will be interesting to see if the cancellation is successful.

accusation that she is racist against black people, when she looks black. The way "cancelling" works is pretty interesting. Basically, if enough people accuse you of being racist, people without courage stop associating with you. This effect cascades and you become a pariah.

Word, it's just not a battle worth fighting. I myself felt that way about writing these tweets. Unless you're really motivated, it's asymmetric downside to engage.

I made the conscientious decision to disengage in culture war stuff roughly after a year of moving here. It takes up sooo much of your limited free time and energy and you benefit nothing.

Even worse, it harms you. But check this out, Germans who didn’t get involved in politics in the 1930s felt the same way.

Yeah I know it's not necessarily about me. The things is though I never lived in the 30s in Germany but present day seemed not very political on an every day basis (despite what's on the news). Maybe people did engage more in the 30s.

Point is maybe the problem is not that people don't take stands but rather that everyone is taking too much of it. We should collectively shut the fuck up.

Yeah I agree, shut the fuck up and get back to work. That said, I think right now we need to stand up say that: "Shut the fuck up and get back to work."
