Hydroxychloroquine is contraindicated in the patients most likely to die from the virus. Said another way, if you’re diabetic or have heart disease you can’t take it. Turns out these people are also most likely to die of covid, possibly explaining the correlation seen here.

Actually studies have shown Hydroxychlorquine benefits patients with diabetes alone. Even moreso than newer more expensive drugs. This study was pre-covid, but it says diabetics are helped by the drug.https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/912548 …

While that is interesting, I can't look at a study that talks about the benefits of adding a 3rd drug to a cocktail of metformin and something else when a simple dietary change puts people in permanent diabetes remission.

Very true about diet changes putting type 2 diabetes in remission. The point was that Hydroxychloroquine may not be harmful to diabetics if they catch covid. It would make sense their doctors might want to monitor blood sugar and adjust metformin or other drugs while on HCQ.
