You DO NOT need to quit your job or raise venture capital to start a big beautiful business. Inspired by @patrickc's http://patrickcollison.com/fast , I will keep a list of entrepreneurs who started a business with a day job and little money. Without further ado:

1. Daymond John started FUBU while working at Red Lobster, hand sewing his first products (sold on street in Queens!) 2. Sarah Blakely started Spanx while selling fax machines (at first door-to-door) for Danka 3. While working for NASA, Lonnie Johnson invented the Super Soaker

4. Bob Parsons, founder of GoDaddy and a Purple Heart winning Vietnam Veteran, started MoneyCounts while working a day job in Iowa, selling it for $64 million. 5. Mohnish Pabrai, an immigrant to the US from India, started an IT consulting company while working a day job, selling

launched his first fashion line of knit sweaters. 8. Beto Perez, an immigrant from Colombia, started the exercise fitness program Zumba while working as an aerobics class instructor in Miami 9. Jerry Yang, an immigrant from Taiwan, started Yahoo! while studying at Stanford.

10. Paul Orfalea, a first generation American of Lebanese descent, while studying at USC, with a $5k bank loan cosigned by his parents founded Kinko's. If you have more American entrepreneurial success stories, send them to me!

You'll notice that, not only can you start an amazing business with a day job and without being rich, that it doesn't matter the color of your skin, where you were born, gender, or sexuality. So stop watching Netflix and making excuses and fucking do it.
