Meditation does not work for me. I keep doing it for longer and longer sessions (10 minutes is my max here - I am not yet guru/yogi level) and I try doing different things (focussing on my breath, having no thoughts, letting thoughts pass through me) and I very little out of it.

But then again: The historical Buddha might very well have been Caucasian & the Dhammapada (one of the earliest canonical texts) explicitly demands mental self-mastery. So maybe different genetics require different approaches, e.g. Westerners need an intermediate stage/technique?
