I get mild relaxation and no enlightenment beyond the realization that 10 minutes is a long ass amount of time. Am I doing something wrong or does this stuff just not work for some people?

at the sky and it was white (eyes closed) and then it kinda turned a different color which was fun. Don’t feel enlightened in any way. Life is same as before. I feel like I could cut straight to the detachment “meditation” without the 20 minutes of suffering. Double checked. Yes

The first question is: What type of meditative practice are you following? Concentration? Mindfulness? What exactly are you doing while you “meditate”? And what is your specific aim? Bliss? Switching off thoughts? Reduced bad feelings?

Meditation can help on different levels: Aches & pains flush out feelings of ennui & meaninglessness. Similar to a nasty flu. Our system needs a certain amount of pain. Moreover, most Westerners lack sleep & nap while “meditating” or at least fall into a hypnagogic trance.
