Had the Empire of Japan won in WW2, could it have successfully Japanized the Koreans over the long-term?
Lot of commonalities though right? Hard work, intelligent, work well in groups, strong sense of national ethnic pride, shame culture etc Of course there are differences.

Sure, but it is the differences that matter when we are talking about whether the Japanese could "japanofy" them, yeah? They hate each other for a reason, and I would contend it has to do with the yin-yang nature of their temperaments.
