Isn't this how most technology changed? There'd be some breakthrough and they'd improve/expand fortress or sword technology for centuries. Then we got guns and explosives which get better in that arch. Another thing: what are people even lacking today outside medical tech?
- Way faster travel (we ain't at teleportation) - Cure for death - Something even better than a zoom call for distant communication - something that can invent for us - better replacement for fossil fuels - something to let you eat hot pizza without burning the roof of your mouth

Would you get in a teleporter? I don't think so. No matter how much proof they had it was the same person on the other end.
