If we get mental health care correct, then we can drive 30% to 50% of total costs out of the broader health care system. Why are we not dedicating more resources to this?

My explanation for it: Stigma (many don’t want to see mental illness as illness) Vested interests Difficulty in defining a “cure”

Stigma is actually holding back demand that would otherwise totally destroy the supply / demand imbalance in the space. Vested interest - I agree completely. The medical industrial complex doesn't want mental health to work. Defining cure - we have clinically validated ways.

How does mental health drive so much cost? We talking homeless people in and out of hospitals and people overdosing?
