Are you advocating that the government subsidize the cost of manufacturing? It seems to me that US manufacturing cost is high because of the cost of labor. What other factors are there?
Not necessarily. There are many obstacles to manufacturing in this country which are not the lack of subsidies. - crazy high currency exchange rates - lack of universal medical care for citizens (meaning manufacturers have to pay) - unhealthy population (obesity diabetes)
- regulatory interference At the very least we should be making essential goods here like rare earths, medical equipment, high technology, etc.
