Dug them both. I recently learned about mimesis, and, like everyone says, once you get it, you see it everywhere! Maybe it’s genetic or maybe it’s having a weird first name that conditions you to feel separate from the pack, but I feel pretty unaffected by mimetic desires.

Awesome man. And I know - my last name does the same :) I like to think that I'm a contrarian. But then after reading Girad, or even Thiel's thoughts on it, I realize that's the trick of mimesis: you don't realize you're copying.

Word. Definitely had the thought that I was just copying contrarian characters. I haven't read all of Girard but, one thought crossed my mind. Do we copy because life is too complicated for us to work out? Monkey see, monkey do, because we can't do what we don't see?
