There's one counterargument though. By incentivising people to not work you are also incentivising social distancing. Not saying that makes it good policy on balance, but i feel everyone commenting on it is missing this point.

To an extent. But there's also a reason why social distancing meant shut down businesses in most cases (except "essential"). So there is _some_ tradeoff.
