Good counterpoint. I still think it’s a reasonably good rule of thumb. We could modify my comment slightly to exclude them and keep the rest. Lawyer on retainer, software getting a year in advance, or insurance feel different from airplane leaves on may 1 and returns may 7.

Maybe a more general rule: all else equal, a business that gets paid in advance is better. The longer the delay between payment and services, the better.
