It was probably spreading in China as early as October?
Seems unlikely to me if you believe they only had 80k ish cases. Would’ve gone exponential faster.

Growth rate depends a lot on location and there's a lot of early variance in how fast it spreads. Plus yeah, I don't exactly trust the CCP.
