Thing I’ve been contemplating today about business: “The game you choose to play matters more than how good you are at it.” Not a 100% sold on that being a truism, but can’t find any counterexamples.

Ah this is good. Looking up Jamail and Yanai, I’d argue those guys picked good games to play. Yanai in particular is totally blue ocean strategy. Arguably, so did Bezos and Walton, too. Another one is Guy Laliberte (Cirque de Soleil).
Yanai was blue ocean? Why not ortega also with Zara?
Jamail is afaik the only lawyer billionaire ever. Lawyers do great but not like jamail. He played it very different.
Wow Guy Laliberté is a great example. He and I are both quebecois for former street performers

I only know Guy because: 1) He’s prominent in the Blue Ocean book (good idea, bad book) 2) He’s a known (losing) whale in the poker scene. On TV often for that. Cool cat it seems.

1. Figured, haha. 2. Yup, he is. Unlike Beal! I'm half French Canadian so my mom who is 100% used to regale me stories of how there was a French "Can" who went from street performer to billionaire.
