I would think that a ton of these are retail or small scale service businesses. Mexicans are famous for not trusting banking in the USA. They always carry cash.

In the Philippines one of the big motivators for wfh is traffic. Don’t know if there’s anything going on like that with Mexico. I don’t know the country and don’t take offense to this but could drug violence be a driver for work at home in some cities?

Traffic is becoming a bigger issue. Labor laws are somewhat ambiguous in regards to WFH so that's a huge con for it since most companies try to get away with considering WFH as gig workers and not employees.

At the risk of sounding stupid or out of touch, I think drug violence happens most of the time at night so don't think that's a WFH driver. Public transport is SHIT so that could certainly help.

Northeast state called Nuevo Leon. A lot of US listed mexican companies were born and have their hqs here.

I am very much against the corporate practices that happen here in mexico for the most part. I believe corp greed and abuse is what drove the current president's election. Ppl are tired of big corps getting away with everything (as they do everywhere else).

Outsourcing for natl companies is a big part of the economy since cos want to avoid compensating employees as they should or paying taxes. But there must be a right way to do this...

Ah I see. Same motivation exists in the USA. When you hire remote workers in the US you don't pay payroll taxes or healthcare.

Something similar in Mexico. Laws have become stricter in that tho.

Nowadays the law could consider the beneficiary of the services as the actual employer. But this would def not apply for foreign companies...
