What country would the United States most look like if we did not have the world's reserve currency? If I had to pick one, I would say Russia. Strong military, national pride, lots of oil, huge social problems.

Would destroy ability for federal government to borrow, so the states would have a lot more power relatively. More like Europe, IMHO.

If we didn't shake ourselves to pieces entirely like the USSR in the 90s, this outcome wouldn't surprise me. Could have some larger entities in a weak federation like these interstate pacts that have been getting so much buzz lately.
