Good point. What’s the margin on AWS, books and their Prime business?

Short answer. Don’t know exactly. Longer answer: people think that amazons retail business is low margin (fewer by the day) but they’re wrong. The marketplace business is very high margin. For example they take a 15% cut of every sale and charge advertising. Both r 10% margin.

Is guess about Amazon’s selling power or their Third Party sellers? Third Party sellers make up 60% of total website revenue and have slimmer margins, inherently.

Don’t understand first sentence. Happy to meet a fellow amazon seller.

I could have read the conversation wrong I believe Amazon’s margins are higher on their items, rather than profit margin on the cost of receiving/warehousing/picking/shipping 3P’s items. Amazon’s business is so broad, calculating their profit has to be impossible.

They purposefully obfuscate it in their 10k. Perhaps for monopoly concerns. Perhaps, but I doubt it. Probably depends on the sku. However, you didn’t say ads and commission which is bigggggg money.

I’ll agree with that. Walmart definitely fewer if they have any? Costco, besides the membership is all 20% Margin max.

Cool. And we have like one Costco and 200,000 software companies? I’ll take the latter as my playground! :-)

You’re saying that you’d rather find high margin software businesses than the hay in the needle stack of good low margin businesses?
