Good point. What’s the margin on AWS, books and their Prime business?
Short answer. Don’t know exactly. Longer answer: people think that amazons retail business is low margin (fewer by the day) but they’re wrong. The marketplace business is very high margin. For example they take a 15% cut of every sale and charge advertising. Both r 10% margin.

Is guess about Amazon’s selling power or their Third Party sellers? Third Party sellers make up 60% of total website revenue and have slimmer margins, inherently.

Their 1st party business is low margin but it is the loss leader that powers the highly profitable 3rd party. Awe is out of my area of expertise. Also prime subscriptions are also 100% margin!
