(Many are) law breaking machines who have little incentive to follow social distancing directives. 3) a homeless shelter is tightly packed like a cruise ship. This study does not mean we are close to herd immunity. 4. Homeless people tend to be pretty young. They might look old.
But they’re not. That obviously has a strong effect on the effect of the virus. 5. It’s possible they just caught them early in the infection route. Takes a while for coronavirus to get going. Seems possible given that they did not yet get 100% infection rate.
Basically, I’m pretty skeptical that this study says much about the power of the virus nor herd immunity in our current population. Sorry to disappoint. Also I have great respect for people who work out of their car or on occasion find themselves sleeping in a shelter. I don’t
have that respect nor very much sympathy (yes many were probably born into broken homes which is a huge setback) for those who beg or are professionally homeless.
