This isn't entirely accurate - Amazon does not work with loyalty publishers like Rakuten, nor do they work with software publishers like Honey. Either way, this is a huge blow for many publishers, the danger of concentration in affiliate. (I work in Pub Dev at CJ)
You sure? How then does Rakuten and Honey make money referring people to Amazon? Thanks.

Rakuten/Ebates and Honey make most of their money via other networks. Amazon hasn't worked with loyalty for years, may have had an exception for Ebates but doesn't look like they're live on site now.

Honey got their start directing people away from Amazon for better prices (and higher commissions). Few months back Amazon started pushing a warning to shoppers who had Honey installed saying it isn't a safe plugin or something. Can't imagine they work together
