Amazon just wiped out the affiliate advertising game. Lowered commissions from 10% to 3%, effective 7 days from today. This is what it is like to dance with the beast.pic.twitter.com/uVI14dCyrd

Our country needs to focus on the coronavirus right now, but once we get past that, let's support the law in the below article. It won't fix what just happened (Amazon needs a competitor!), but it will improve Amazon for small businesses and consumers.https://twitter.com/Molson_Hart/status/1221997408864915462 …
Muting notifications on this thread. It’s making the rest of Twitter unusable.
This isn't entirely accurate - Amazon does not work with loyalty publishers like Rakuten, nor do they work with software publishers like Honey. Either way, this is a huge blow for many publishers, the danger of concentration in affiliate. (I work in Pub Dev at CJ)
You sure? How then does Rakuten and Honey make money referring people to Amazon? Thanks.
I was wrong. Honey and Rakuten stopped getting Amazon referral money recently. See thread:https://twitter.com/axhart/status/1250233476131028992 …
Can you explain what this means?
They make their money through links to Amazon. If you click the link and then buy a product on Amazon, Amazon gives them a cut of the money.
Amazon’s disdain for Honey is likely what drove this change
Wow. Just wow.
