I find myself embroiled in a debate on the merits of cognitive behavioral therapy vs. other psychotherapy. CBT works and will get you off meds. This person disagrees. Note how they've been in therapy for 10 years. If your fix takes 10 years doesn't stop, it's not a fix.https://twitter.com/surugucci/status/1249375821028036609 …

Seems like you’re wrong. From what I recall, there are a variety of treatments that all show varied success, including CBT. And there are definitely issues that CBT can’t solve. I don’t think she ever says it doesn’t work, just that you’re wrong about CBT being the ONLY solution

What did I write that was wrong? Fwiw it’s hard to follow the thread because she quote tweeted me multiple times instead of doing a reply chain. CBT won’t fix schizophrenia. I’ll agree to that. Did I say CBT was the only solution? It’s just my belief that it is the best.

Saying CBT is BEST. It’s one of a variety of treatments that all have varying levels of efficacy depending on what is being treated. I agree the astrology thing was stupid.

Molson Hart Retweeted Nassim Nicholas Taleb
In this context, which is what I was in when I wrote CBT is best, CBT is best. He’s talking about therapy for anxiety. It is the best most effective treatment for this. I am well read on this topic and not wrong. https://twitter.com/nntaleb/status/1249043280400171013?s=21 …https://twitter.com/nntaleb/status/1249043280400171013 …

Nassim Nicholas TalebVerified account @nntalebThe best therapy; lowers our anxiety and helps organize our minds while facing mild uncertainty. Aesthetic and harmless; unlike economics and social "science". Discussed in#FooledbyRandomness https://twitter.com/viggiereggae/status/1249038310405701632 …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

And I just don’t think BEST should be used. People are different, and different things work for them. It’s like saying reading is the BEST way to learn. It might be for you but not everyone https://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mental-health/treatments-and-wellbeing/cognitive-behavioural-therapy-(cbt) …pic.twitter.com/L9Vwa2F7OJ

Disagree. Go look up the keto diet and diabetes, for example. There’s a lot of money behind pills and dialysis and none behind keto. Keto works better. Psychotherapy is the same way. Of course people who make money on never-ending psychotherapy are against the proven quick fix.

CBT isn’t something that is affected by neuro-atypicality like reading. This is Skinnerian push lever get sugar Pavlov’s dogs stuff. It is the best for anxiety disorders by a wide margin.
