But they didn’t contain. They just contact traced. You need to do the testing thing that China was doing.

My impression is they thought they had it contained, but then had outbreaks they couldn't account for. Constant mass testing might work, too, if it can be organized. That's still a hope. But what Sweden is doing seems to be working well, with very few new ICU cases/day.

What’s the best article on Sweden? Taiwan seems to have contained it.

Taiwan caught it early and closed borders. Because they knew the Chinese are full of it. I didn't read an article on Sweden. I just read through forums to see what people are saying / what's shut down, looked at the data and came to my own conclusion https://www.icuregswe.org/en/data--results/covid-19-in-swedish-intensive-care/ …

Even though the numbers look not bad, they don’t look sustainable and we gotta watch them for longer.

I'm watching Swedish numbers like a hawk. The best (only) control group since it's a western country that isn't locking down.

They look good for the strategy they are taking but not good enough to be sustainable without accepting mass death.

Their path seems the same as countries with hard lock downs. If mass testing / containment works, R0 will drop below 1 in both places.

Yeah but Sweden is doing neither. I bet they close soon.

I think they'll do mass testing as soon as capacity comes online. That's what's missing. As a side note, I was on the fence before this event. Now I'm confident that countries should subsidize domestic manufacturing for national security reasons. Protect that tail end.

For all goods or just essentials (health care, weapons, rare earths and microprocessors)?

Essentials, I suppose. But maybe that includes clothing? Definitely stuff like cars and car parts, steel, etc. You really want a large % of the population that simply knows *how* to manufacture stuff in a pinch.
