3) a total shutdown for a short period of time is better for the economy than a Half-asses shutdown for much longer. We just need to bite the bullet. Too much community spread.

More accurately, this is major medical malpractice and he is responsible the deaths here. Trump is too, but this was supposed to be fauci’s area of expertise. The only thing more pathetic than his performance is the respect he gets from the media. 
This isn't a reasonable comparison. It's like looking at NY state vs. NYC. Australia has a low density because of a huge amount of the country that has no people. Really what you should look at is Bergamo/Milan/Venezia vs. Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane

Melbourne 508/ km^2 vs Milan 7700/ km^2. Also Melbourne has a lot more foreign population (who had the BCG vaccine already) compared to Milan.
