Haha yes, it is one of the herpes viruses, which causes mononucleosis. i contracted when I was 15 years old. It sucked, I was extremely sick for a month. Fortunately it has never come back in more than 25 years since, but for sure it is still lurking in my dna causing damage.

Lol .. I am really not sure how I got it, I didn’t get it from sex. It is possible I got it from kissing a girl. Many carriers of EBV are unaware that they have it because if infected as a child you typically show no distinctive symptoms. Typically it’s nasty at age 15.

I don’t think the mechanism is known but if you are an a EBV carrier it is correlated with heightened risk of the following Cardiovascular disease Multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases such as lupus, arthritis, possibly others I think there is more ...

All retroviruses take a long term toll on us. Want to hear something interesting though? It is believed that retroviruses of this nature have been with us so long they have evolved to confer benefits as well ... for example iirc EBC or herpes may protect against bubonic plague?
