I think any employee who does that will regret it in a few months. It’s really myopic to take unemployment over a job, not only economically but for one’s own sense of purpose.

Opportunity for a better life. And even for those who 100% dislike it, it’s better for your psychology then sitting on your ass and watching tv all day. That can be really bad for people. So, not an easy job, but I stand by the sense of purpose comment.
I think I’m a really bad example for extrapolation across the entire population. I went into the workforce thinking I was hot shit and got fired and had trouble as an employee. I worked a minimum wage data entry job and felt good about it when I figured out how to use automation

To do in 5 minutes what others were doing in 5 hours. I like unloading containers because it’s a great workout. Not everyone wants to be Michael Jordan (like I do) and for a lot of those people a job, even if it’s not amazing, is great.
