Don't know about that. A lot of people end up leaving the hospital less well than they would've had they not gone. And this is true after controlling for selection bias.

The basic issue with these takes is there really is no way to adjudicate this empirically via sound epidemiological methods. Even gen surveys would seem limited.

You give my brain enough data and anecdotes and it is better than a regression or other "sound epidemiological method" Much of the time, regressions are just a cute little tool that academics use to impress each other.
