What is the evolutionary reason behind pooping feeling so good?

Did we need a pleasure incentive for that? If you carry something really heavy and then release it, it feels good, but it doesn't feel pleasurable. Breathing is necessary but doesn't have a pleasure incentive either.

It doesn’t always feel good...I suspect it’s a happy coincidence.

I was thinking that might be the reason, actually. Because, sometimes, it feels really not good, we needed it to feel good the rest of the time. Otherwise we'd avoid it, which would not be good.

I read a good book once called Junkie by a heroine addict (incredible book—highly recommend it). He starts by saying all pleasure can be more accurately explained as relief. Pooping is a great example.

There’s a reason “sexual tension” is such a natural metaphor: relief!

Haha dunno man. As soon as I get to the relief stage I wish I could go back to the tension :)
