What is the evolutionary reason behind pooping feeling so good?

Did we need a pleasure incentive for that? If you carry something really heavy and then release it, it feels good, but it doesn't feel pleasurable. Breathing is necessary but doesn't have a pleasure incentive either.

It doesn’t always feel good...I suspect it’s a happy coincidence.

I was thinking that might be the reason, actually. Because, sometimes, it feels really not good, we needed it to feel good the rest of the time. Otherwise we'd avoid it, which would not be good.

My other theory is that, in order for pooping to not be detrimental to the rest of your village, you need to do it in a designated place (i.e. not upstream) and that's kind of a pain to deal with. So maybe the pleasure is designed to let you justify a long walk or something.
